Opinion Vs. Hate (Time To RAMble)

There's alot of ppl who are afraid to or just don't give their opinions on alot of things because they don't want their personal opinion to be labeled as hatred. Opinion & hate are two completely different things! You can easily tell when someone is truly hating on something. But alot of ppl label opinions as hate when they don't agree with that persons opinion.

ie: Someone voices their opinion on one of my songs. "Oh that new Ramz shit is weak, the beats cool but his verse is mediocre at best." Then once I see that comment I instantly deem it as hate, simply because I don't agree with it. That right there is complete bullshit!! People are entitled to their opinion no matter if it's negative or positive.

Because of this, ppl are supporting alot of wack shit and saying that certain songs/artists are dope when they know in the back of their minds, that artist/song sucks walrus nuts!

People always wonder why I don't retweet they shit, post it, etc. Simple, I'm not supporting anything that I don't like. I do not care how cool I am with a person, if I don't personally enjoy their product, I'm not passing it on to ppl who follow me. Then those ppl will be like, 'Ramz, wtf is this bullshit you made me listen to?'

Alot of artists have superb grinds, but the music they produce is the exact opposite of superb. I'd get a song with damn near anybody, as long as it their song. As far as my songs, I would NOT let anybody get on my shit. I'd really have to like your music and respect your art.

Oh and yea I know I'm talking about music, but this is true for alot of shit. Someone can design a jacket and show the sketch to ppl on facebook, one person may say, "Oh that jacket looks just like one that I saw in H&M. Be more creative when designing clothing." And ppl will call that person a HATER! BULLSHIT!

But ummm, yea. Just had to let that shit out. There is a BIG DIFFERENCE btw opinion and hate. Learn the difference bitches! & learn how to man up when someone gives you their opinion on something that you may be doing, pussies.

Let's Talk....

I rarely talk on this damn thing. Sometimes I find myself wanting to say some shit, but I don't know where to. I don't like blabbering off at the mouth on twitter too much, so fuck it, let's talk here.

Since before I released *The Best of Frank Ramz* back in January, I have been writing for my next solo project titled *Quite Frankly*. Back then I had about 50 tracks for this project, then I chopped 'em down to about 30-something, but now I'm back to about 52. I've been going over and over and over and over every track for the past 2 or 3 months to make sure everything feels and sounds right!

With ALL of my other projects, there wasn't any real plan. I wrote all of them quickly, recording all of them quickly, and put them out quickly. This one will be the complete opposite. Well, individually, each song was written quickly, but that's it. This will also be the 1st project where I will record soooo many songs and pick out the best 16 or so for the project. Lord knows what I'ma end up doing with the rest of the tracks. I will not be rushing to record these songs. If I need to take an entire session just to make sure one track sounds the way that I want it to, then so be it. I will also be taking my time getting everything mixed, making sure everything sounds the way that I hear it in my head. And once everything is mixed, I will be sitting down (possible with a very special few who's opinions I trust) to pick out the very very best tracks out the 50+ to make the final cut for *Quite Frankly*.

Also, I've never really had any features on any of my projects. Except for my homie Elus on *Welcome To Medusaville* & *Falling Up*. This time around, I will be reaching out to a few of my peers for features. I'll be totally honest with you, I don't think some of them will deliver. But @ the end of the day, my show still goes on without them & will still be great without them. I should begin recording this project by no later than Nov or Dec 2010.

Ohh yeaa, of course if you've been following me and/or this blog, you've noticed the product that Shortman Score & myself have been putting out. Everything is off of our upcoming project titled *No Fly Zone*. This project is completely recorded, we simply have to go back for a mixing session and everything will be ret ta go! This should be getting released either this month or next month, but don't quote me on that. Just know that it's coming soon as fuck!

Frankenstein Review!

I'm super late posting this review here. I probably posted a link to it, but I decided to copy & paste the entire review here. You can check it out on REUP SPOT as well. Much love to Antoinette for the dope fucking review as well!!!!

Ok- it’s confession time- again. Until I downloaded the new mixtape: Frankenstein- Hosted by REUPSpot.com (released March 15) from Bronx, NY emcee Frank Ramz, I had never heard of him. I know…I know…I’m slippin’. The point is- from the cover artwork (which is, in and of itself pretty fly) to the 14 tracks of dopeness that can only come from a true disciple of hip hop, I’m happy to now be acquainted with his work.

To further add to my shame and embarrassment, I had a hard time placing some of the beats (usually a simple task for a radiohead like myself) but that’s a good thing. Even though Ramz does his thing over beats from Big Sean, Donnis, Jay Rock, Freddie Gibbs, Fashawn, J Cole and others; I found myself spending more time listening to the lyrics than concentrating on the music behind them, which should redeem me somewhat, as I am also a serious word-junkie. But enough about me….

I’ll start with the last two tracks: “150%” and “Get Right To It” for no other reason than that they’re the best on the project. Ramz shines on original production that showcases his natural and flawless flow. I freely admit to playing them more than once…which says a lot for someone with musical ADD who keeps the cursor fixed over the “forward” arrow. But again- enough about me.

“Turbulence” on which Ramz successfully and permanently murders the beat of Whiz Khalifa’s “This Plane”- is also an unexpected treat, although I’m sure my sisterhood card would be revoked if I didn’t mention that I cringed a little bit when I heard the line: ” Supply a quick flow/so I can get dough/for my niggas and spread ‘em around like germs/and raise the stock value of my sperm/so girls will let me put my balls on their sideburns….” Ummm…okay then. But Ramz’ occasional slips into the vulgar do little to detract from his rather colorful vocabulary and impressive timing.

“More Sober Thoughts” is deceptively smooth, relaxing you into a groove as it provides some insight on a struggling rapper’s attempts to escape reality…”just let me escape from the fate/this reality can break a nigga/and I don’t know how much more I can take/I relate to my niggas rollin’ weed, sippin’ Henny/ cuz we lookin’ for good times but we ain’t getting any…” It’s nice to hear the truth for a change. The slide into slow-mo at the end is pretty cool too.

Although some of the lyrics on Frankenstein are a lil “mannish” for my taste (e.g. “now I don’t wanna go out shorty/don’t give me a call/ unless you planning on lickin’ my balls”…classy), I’m definitely a fan. It was certainly a bonus to get to the end of a mixtape and not be sick of it. I’m most definitely looking forward to his upcoming projects: Frankly Speaking and Quite Frankly.

From the front to the back, Frankenstein is an optimistic look at what I only hope will become the norm in hip hop. I’m just crazy enough to think the tide is turning and P. Diddy’s days on the mic are numbered. After 10 years in the biz- I don’t think it will be much longer before the self-proclaimed “reality rapper” can buy his moms that house down South. Hope springs eternal…

Got diagnosed w/ asthma at about the age of 6 & been admitted to the hospital every winter since until I turned about 16. Which is why I love hospital food!!

I was in a co-ed catholic school from grades 1-8. Was on the honors roll/principals list every school year up until about the 4th grade. That's when me (& the rest of the class) got corrupted by this kid named James Crooms. He was a new transfer and came from a public school where cursing was being done by the kindergarteners. We were'nt cursing just yet, but as soon as he came, that was it. Plus my pops is the swearing king, so it was in my blood already.
I was always a little horny kid tho. Hey, I was a handsome mofo. The girls actually wanted me to pinch their booty's & grab their tits. It made them famous.

In my household I grew up listening to nothing but old school r&b/soul records & gospel records. Barry White, Diana Ross, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Smokie Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Jackson 5, Mike of course, Pattie Labelle, Shirley Caesar, BeBe & CeCe Winans, John P Kee, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin, The Chi-Lites, The Stylistic, plus much much more that I can't even almost think of.

Once I got older & cool enough to hang with my two older brothers, I got more into hip-hop. Oh, & also thanks to my sisters 1st baby daddy, he put me onto to LL Cool J and had me holding my crotch like MJ used to do. Anyway, my oldest brother was more into sh*t like Special Ed & DMX. My 2nd oldest brother was %100 into the hard sh*t, Bootcamp Click, Wu Tang, DMX as well..etc.

The first hip-hop artist I ever really got into was LL Cool J, but that was when I was too small to understand wtf was really going on. Once I got a better understanding, I fell in love with Mase...HARLEM WORLD!!! He is who initially inspired me to rap. I wasn't into that hardcore sh*t back then. I couldn't understand why Biggie would say something like "f*ck the world, f*ck my moms & my girl". I was like, "IS HE SERIOUS?" But I love the glitz & glamour. The shiney suits were fine by me. BUT, Mase was lyrically a problem. Shortly after I fell in love with Eminem. The Slim Shady LP was probably the first album that I actually purchased with my own money (Harlem World was a gift). Eminem to me is the best lyricist out..ever. But that's neither here nor there. After Em, I began getting into hardcore sh*t..really started to relate more to real sh*t as I got older because I began going thru more sh*t in life. Next up was DMX. No one can deny his first 2 (maybe 3) albums at all.

Next thing I know, I'm listening to damn near everything in the hip-hop world. Always was a heavy r&b head. R. Kelly, Kelly Price, Donnell Jones, Joe, Jon B, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Musiq, Jill Scott, Trey Songz, Next, Montell Jordan, SWV, En Vogue..much much more on that list as well. I get alot of inspiration in my music from r&b, as far as melodies & emotions go. All of the music I grew up listening was real & from the heart. Mainly all very soulful. So that would explain why I gravitate more towards artists like Joe Budden, Little Brother, Royce more than other artists. I like rappers who I feel can actually rap.

Now let's get back to life...ummmmm...in high school I jumped into a catholic all boys school for my first two years. Couldn't take the financial blows (these mofos wanted more than our monthly rent) & #QuiteFrankly, it was too much gay sh*t going on in those schools. So for my last 2 years of high school, I jumped into the co-ed public school system.....SMH. At first, it was cool, I loved being around the ladies. But soon, a n*gga started f*cking up. My friend encouraged to cut for the first time during the 1st semester. I was scared as hell going back to that class the next day, thinking the teacher was going to question/punish me cause that's what they do in catholic schools. Matter fact, in the catholic schools that I went to, that sh*t didn't even happen. We thought cutting was a hollywood myth. But surprisingly, the teacher didn't say sh*t, & I couldn't believe it. So I kept cutting my life away. Eventually those cut cards reached my mailbox & moms spazzed on me. So I was back in class shortly after.

In that same public high school is where I got a little more known for rapping. Constant cyphers & a few battles got my name up. But regardless, I was always the quiet not so popular n*gga who hung w/ the popular n*ggaz & sat w/ the nerdy n*ggaz. Charles Hamilton also went to this public school for a little while before he got kicked out. I will always remember him, looking the same as he does now, carrying what looked to be like the heaviest bookbag in the world and still having about 6 books in his hand. Always ready to freestyle but nobody wanted to listen. I got introduced to him in front of this barbershop/studio by my friend Sha-Ronn, in which we both kicked some bars back & forth at each other. Bet he doesn't remember that sh*t. Being in a public high school definitely helped me socially & physically.

Ummmmm..where Ima jump to now?? I think I began rapping in 97, a little after Harlem World was released. Me & my friend G.P. (who you can find here freestyling - lightskinned dude w/ specs) first began taking Mase verses and slightly re-wording them to make them sound like our own. We would perform them for certain ppl in class & they would like it. That's when we thought we could actually do something with it, we already had the love for music/hip-hop, now we're developing skills. We started a crew called H.old I.t D.own entertainment which we somewhat still rep til this day. Not until 08 did I begin taking it very serious & beginning to make moves with my music. I began making tapes & grinding as much as possible to get my name & music out there via internet. First project was *UNDENIABLE*. This was when I was slightly still on my bullsh*t, rapping about guns, b*tches & money. Everything that totally was NOT me. Dropped that around July of 08, then in a matter of 2 months, I found myself. I released my 2nd project, *Welcome To Medusaville* in Sept of 08, it was a birthday present to myself. On this project, I was 100% real w/myself & my music. Everything was heartfelt, nothing was rushed or forced. & that's how it's been ever since. That project got alot more ppl tuning into my music since it became more relatable.

After highschool I really wanted to go to a music school, possibly for engineering or production. But back then I wasn't heavy on the comp, so I didn't know of any music schools, & I was scared that my parents would give that idea a big "HELL NAW". I applied for a few colleges and got accepted to 'em all..but I began leaning towards Clark Atlanta. I knew if I couldn't go to a music school I at least wanted to get away & be around a sh*t load of women. All in all, that didn't work out. The amount of money that was needed to make that move happen was too much to bear at that point in my life. Sooo no college for me. I began working at Victorias Secret & have been a retail stock working a$$ n*gga ever since! FML!!

Currently have a girlfriend who I've been with for the past 3 years, Nas Ramz. Been thru alot of ups & downs, but all is well. What didn't kill us simply made us stronger. Now she is currently carrying our daughter, Ameira, & she be about to pop any day now. She is my first official puerto rican girlfriend. I say that because before her a puerto rican girl took my heart out of my chest, slammed it down hard on the concrete floor, tap danced on it, kicked it like Beckham & then burned it to a crisp. So I was done w/ p.r. chicks for a while, because I liked them so much and felt vulnerable as f*ck around them. This n*gga Nas slipped thru the cracks & there hasn't been no turning back since.

I've always been a more emotional/sensitive/romantic type of dude because I mainly grew up around my mother & sister. Then my sister had a daughter of her own. My oldest brother was somewhere in the army & my other brother was either at college, on the move, or living with whoever he was dating at that moment. So I always loved chasing around my sister, being around her friends and having them pinch my cheeks & call me cute. Also using my little & cute advantage to get as much feels in as possible. As I grew older my heart got a bit colder. All emotions will most likely be conveyed thru my music these days. I try my best to not get upset over something that I ultimately can't control. In life, it's best to use your mind over your heart in certain situations.

Today, I'm still @ home w/ both parents on my full time artist sh*t (I thank them for understanding what I'm trying to do & allowing me this luxury). But a n*gga can only live w/ his parents for but so long. And as I already stated, I have a daughter on the way, so if music doesn't start working out soon, I will fall back from it. I love porn & as you can see I love looking @ beautiful women/eye candy. I listen to all hip-hop these days & I'm inspired by it all, even the sh*t I don't like or consider to be wack. Yet I make sure I bring something no one else can bring, which is my creativity & my reality!!

& as Nas Ramz just told me, I'm a Hot Mess!!

Of course I've been writing new sh*t like I have no damn life...just released these 4 cuts a few days ago.

Now, the next project I'm coming out with will be an EP called *Frankly Speaking...*.
As you can see it's going to be hosted by p&p, hilkoo & sixty4harmony as well! Cover art done by Charlie Hilton! I wanted it to be bright & stand out so no matter what blog you see this cover posted up on, you'll ask yourself, "WTF?".

But like I said, this will just be an EP..a prelude to the full mixtape which is *Quite Frankly...*. This one doesn't have a cover just yet. & neither the EP nor the full mixtape have a track listing yet! But everything is basically written; & everyday that passes that I'm not in the studio, I WRITE MORE SH*T! So these projects will be worth the wait...the EP may end up being a full length tape as well....depending on what Ima feel like doing w/ all the extra tracks!
Honestly, I need a good 10-12 hours in the studio for everything that I have written...& I lay down tracks in minutes..so imagine how many joints I have!

Away from music, my baby shower is tomorrow (Fri, Dec 4th). I'm not all hyped up about the actual baby shower, but I'm hype as f*ck for my daughter...I'm ready for her to pop out right now!!!!!!!!!!!!
But all this baby shower hoopla is making me sick to my stomach. Good thing about it; gifts for the baby & I'll get to see all my friends @ the same time.

It's also looking like it's about that time for me to get a damn job...........again! I swear I'm not an order taking ass n*gga!! With my music, I create what I want...when I want. But looking at the bigger picture, I'm gone have to go thru with it & get back on this payroll.

Reached out to a few ppl for collabo's on the project as well..but I'm not the type to chase & harrast n*ggaz...either they do it or they don't. No hard feelings, I'ma just keep my train choo choo'ing!

& since I mentioned my daughter up there, let me talk about this Pleasure P sh*t! Back in 05 when this fool was about 16/17, he fingered his little niece. I think he might've also did something to his nephew but I'm not sure. He did 8 months in prison, community service & rehab...f*ck that..he deserved more!
But anyhoot, either him or his label had offered to pay a lawyer 30,000 to keep that case QUIET..being that he was w/ Pretty Ricky and they didn't want to kill his image! WELL, seems like they didn't pay that bread & the sh*t done hit the fan...it's all out in the public! I found out cause dude was a trending topic on twitter...and I knew his music wasn't that good.

Come to find out, this was part of the real reason why him & Pretty Ricky parted ways..read up about it HERE!

NOW, I have about 6 nieces, 2 nephews, a few godkids & a daughter on the way...If he would've been my cousin & did that to any of them, he would've got tortured....slowwwwwly...by ME! Broom sticks up his ass, scortching hot water porn on his bare d*ck...the works! Just the thought of someone touching a young female in my family like that makes me go off!!!!

The title of my next project is.....

*Prestige & Promise*

Basically, I fell in love with that live band sound that the Menahan Street Band delivers. So now, I want to take that sound (horns, piano, guitars, live drums, etc) & add more of a hip-hop edge to it. Very refreshing & raw!!

The entire project is damn near finished (written) & all that's left now is the recording. This one will be hosted by P&P (of course) & also by Sixty4Harmony!!

Thinking about releasing it on my birthday (9-20). That'll be a real nice gift from myself to myself. I attempted this same thing last year. I wanted to release *Welcome To Medusaville* on my b-day, but I was so anxious to release it, I ended up putting it out on Sept 9th or some day around that time.

Anyway, stay on the lookout for that. I'm planning on recording it sometime within the next week or two & from there I'll decide on how I will promote it. Got a few nice features on there as well, but I won't speak on that just yet. As far as producers, I have Flair of JJM/Souldiggaz, my brother Charlie Hilton, my homie B. motherloving Logik, Doctor Rosen Rosen, Rishaad, Woody, Thelonious, Tony (TD Mizzle) & I think that's everybody for now!

I am crazy excited about this project!!! :-D

Musically, I went to a completely different level. Obviously it was inspired by the Menahan Street Band so be sure to check them out!

I don't want anyone thinking that this is a ~~mixtape~~!! NO, it's an album to me, or you can call it a project. This project is not for the ignorant AT ALL!!!

Simply put, I looked into the original sample from Jay-Z's "Roc Boys". Found out it was the Menahan Street Band & immediately looked into their work. Found out that the original sample was titled "Make The Road By Walking", which was also the name of the album it was on. Brought the album, loved every track on it & was instantly inspired to do something to each track. I kept all of their titles and basically kept the same album art also And there aren't any curses on this project; family friendly! :-D.

Basically, we are all trying to make the road by walking. We are taking small steps everyday towards our goals in life. Some ppl may even be walking in reverse. Wtv. But during this walk, we go thru alot of ups and downs that may get us sidetracked. At the end of the day, we must take the good with the bad and keep it moving on this road.

Last night was great!!!

Definately didn't have the turn out I wanted, but I still put on a great show as if the venue was packed. And I still made that damn club their money!

Big shout out to my homie G.P. for holding me down on the stage & to everyone who showed up! You guys realized how important this night was to me, and for that I love ya'll from the bottom of my heart!

To those who didn't show up, forget I exist! Moving on....

So the little asian lady at The Annex tried to get me for $70. At first I spoke to her with just myself and my man Score, but she tried to play me. Talking to me in a very disrespectful manner, so I came back in there with about 14 dudes. Now I didn't want to be black, but if you would've heard how she was talking to me, YOU probably would've smacked her!

Follow me, I was supposed to give them $120, which I gave them up front. Any money that they made from that point on from the ppl who didn't purchase a ticket from me goes into my pocket. There were 7 ppl in attendance who didn't have tickets and paid at the door. So that is $70 I should've had. Little Chun-Li gives me $20 and expects me to stay quiet??? NAAA

Even the security guard understood where I was coming from, so she was all alone. I don't believe in hitting females at all, but if there would've been a female there, she would've got back handed!!

Anyway, like I said, the show was great!! I have some footage but it's very dark. So I'm waiting on In The L00p to edit the footage + interview and put it up on their site.

iWould like to introduce you all to my younger cousin, SPADES!
At 16 years old, he's definately on the right path with his music and mind state. He refuses to curse in his music, although he curses up a damn storm during regular conversation. And he drinks..but, his music definately doesn't highlight any of those. Shit, we do live in the Bronx!!
NOW, iHave heard alot of 16 year old rappers, especially being that I live in NY, but SPADES def has the potential to be one of the greater rappers. He is good with taking constructive criticism.

He takes the time to study hip hop as an artform and not only as a means of making money, which is hard to find in these youngings now-a-days! From when iFirst him on a beat to now, he has most certainly improved. One thing about me, iLove growth! To see someone/thing grow, is beautiful to me. iHate it when someone has been rapping for years and sounds the same! Ugh!!

Now I'm inviting you all to experience this wonderful growth. iMean, you'll be hearing from SPADES one way or the other cause he'll always be under my wing!! :-D
